Allotment & Smallholding works
Growing colour, cultivating ideas, and planting the seeds of the small fibre farm.
The small Abertillery allotment is where many of my ideas begin to take root. Alongside growing vegetables and fruit, I’m exploring the wonderful world of natural dyes, growing plants that can bring colour to wool in an organic way.
It’s a place of practical work, experimentation and discovery, where the seasons shape what I plant. It provides ingredients to cook, and often make cakes for knitting groups, alongside adding colour for my yarn stash.
This work also feeds into a longer-term project: the development of the smallholding in Pembrokeshire, with the aim of establishing a fibre farm. It’s an ongoing project, bringing together an interest in natural fibres, sustainable growing, traditional crafts and the inspiring landscape of Wales.

The fibre flock small holding
Cae'r Gwlân is a small holding in development up in the presell hills of West Wales being developed for the production of yarn fibre from plants and sheep.
